About the Role:
This is a great opportunity for a talented engineering consultant to participate in delivering interesting infrastructure projects (primarily water and wastewater related) located at waterfronts and within water bodies. The position will be located in Victoria, BC and will be largely focused on projects throughout Western Canada, as well as other geographically diverse locations. The ideal candidate for this position is one with a desire to deliver excellent customer service and takes pride in developing sound engineering solutions among unique site conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to field investigations, engineering design and other engineering assignments. Projects will involve topics such as ocean/aquatic/riparian environments, pollution/effluents, pipelines, potable water, hydrology/oceanography, corrosion, concrete, trenchless technology, construction diving.
The candidate will be part of a small, close-knit organization of design engineers and environmental professionals that delivers projects in a coordinated and pragmatic manner.
Responsibilites:
Preparing cost estimates, study reports, engineering specifications, and construction contract documents.
Technical writing and report preparation.
Implementing good civil engineering practice that utilizes industry codes, standards, and construction methods.
Providing support to technicians and designers to ensure that contract drawings are accurately prepared and checked.
Managing multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Preform construction field reviews/inspections.
Developing relationships with clients.
Maintain technical knowledge in professional practice.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in applicable field such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Coastal Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
Holds a Professional registration in BC (e.g. P.Eng with EGBC) or other Canadian province.
Minimum 5 years experience in a consulting environment or similar role (combinations of qualification and experience will be considered) and at least 2 years practising as a P.Eng.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience leading and undertaking engineering design, specifications, cost estimating, tendering, and construction is required.
Basic knowledge of regulatory processes and permitting typical for utility and land development projects in BC.
Experience in marine pipelines, utilities, river/hydrology, coastal/oceans, municipal/industrial infrastructure, land development, and concrete/rebar considered an asset.
Excellent organization and time-management skills to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and presentation skills.
Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to handle challenges and work under tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel for project work, as needed.
Drivers Licence.

Compensation
